Resume Templates
ATS-optimized, recruiter-approved templates for every career stage
What Makes a Template ATS-Compatible
Not all resume templates are created equal. A template that looks great as a PDF can be completely unreadable by an Applicant Tracking System. ATS-compatible templates follow these principles:
Single-column layout
Parsers read left to right. Multi-column designs scramble your content and misfile your experience.
No text boxes or tables
Content inside these containers is often invisible to ATS. Use plain paragraph and list formatting.
Standard fonts
Calibri, Arial, Garamond, Georgia, and Times New Roman. 10–12pt body, 14–16pt for your name.
Standard section headers
"Work Experience" not "Career Story." The parser needs to recognize what each section contains.
No images or icons
Skill bars, profile photos, and decorative elements are completely invisible to parsing engines.
Saved correctly
.docx is most universally compatible. PDFs work if generated from Word/Google Docs — not from design tools.

How to Customize Your Template
A template is a starting point, not a finished product. Here's how to turn any of these into a job-winning resume in five steps:
Replace every placeholder with your real information
Work through top to bottom. Don't leave any brackets or italicized instructions in the final document.
Rewrite your summary for each role
Swap in the exact job title and 1–2 top keywords from the job description. This alone can significantly improve your ATS score.
Add keywords from the job description
Compare your skills section and bullet points to the posting. Find 5–8 phrases from the JD that are missing from your resume and add them where truthful.
Quantify at least 3 bullet points per role
Choose the bullets that best demonstrate impact. Add numbers even if approximate: "~30% faster," "team of 6," "$2M+ in contracts."
Save correctly for the application
Unless the application specifically requests a PDF, submit as .docx for maximum ATS compatibility. Name the file: FirstName-LastName-Resume.docx
Font & Formatting Rules
Follow these rules across all templates to maximize readability and ATS compatibility:
| Element | Specification |
|---|---|
| Body font | Calibri, Arial, Garamond, or Georgia — 10pt minimum, 12pt ideal |
| Name / header | 14–18pt, bold. Your name should be the largest text on the page. |
| Section headers | 11–12pt, bold or ALL CAPS. Consistent size throughout. |
| Margins | 0.75–1 inch on all sides. Never go below 0.5 inch. |
| Line spacing | 1.0–1.15 for bullet points. Add 6pt space between sections. |
| Bullet style | Use standard round bullets (•). Avoid dashes, arrows, or custom symbols. |
| Date format | Be consistent: "Jan 2022 – Mar 2024" or "2022–2024" throughout. |
| File naming | FirstName-LastName-Resume.docx. Never "resume_final_v3_NEW.docx" |
